Sport & Gretta Live in the Lap of Luxury!! Posted Sunday, April 11, 2004 by Tim
Sport & Greta have been living in the Lap of Luxury lately, or so they think. For instance today is their special Saturday ... where they get lots of attention all day. Weekdays they get it in the morning and as soon as we come home but they spend the normal daytime sleeping outside in the nice kennel waiting for us to come home.
But on the weekends they are in and out of the house (to the backyard) as much as they want .... if they want to go out we ack like there noble servants and open the door for them ... when they want to come in because Greta had enough of the sunbathing and or chasing lizards & Sport Pee'd on everything he felt it was necessary to Pee on, we let them in.
Then when we went to leave the house for about 3 hrs they get to stay in the house and look out the front windows at every little bit of block activity that may happen & when there not doing that sleep the brains out on the nice comfy sofas in the front living area.
Its a boxers life 4 sure.

Back To Normal! Posted Thursday, July 24, 2003 by Tim
Well, its been a few months now and all the puppies are gone sad to say. We were fortunate to find great homes for all of them.
Now everything is back to normal around our house .... Sport and Greta are back in the normal groove of eating, playing, sleeping and passing gas. They couldn't be happier ... Greta gets all the attention she wants again, not having to spilt it with her puppies.
Sport is once again King of the house hold .... and not be chasing around like a little sissy by a bunch of little demon ankle biting puppies.
Business as usual.

One Big Happy family! Posted Monday, April 21, 2003 by Tim
Have typed here in a while ... sorry about that.
The Pups are all getting so big and are becoming such little stinkers. We love the heck outta them, we have found 4 WONDERFUL homes so far for them. They are lucky little puppies for sure .... Looks like the remainder 3 pups are all being considered by some wonderful people too. ... it wont be long before they are no longer orphanes!! ;o)
We are taking them outside to play more and more and they all are LOVING IT! They love running thru the grass and taking naps in the shade. We are always making sure that they never are near any aints or things like that. They love to run and jump up and down from the grass to the back porch and onto the outside kennel deck too ...
It's weird but we really believe that they are holding the potty duties until the hit the grass (most of the time ... we think about 2/3 rds the time) Sport and Gretta house trained in like 3 or less weeks from the time we got them as puppies so we think these guys will be the same.
Well, thats it for now .... dogs are in the house most of the time, with us ... but you will start to see them in the kennel more ... nicer color webcam there too.

Eatin like little pigs! Posted Friday, April 11, 2003 by Tim
The Puppies are starting to really come to life now. Tamara say's that one of them actually got out of the "little plastic pool" , walked over to Grettas food (in the big raised dog bone shape feeder) and stood on her hide legs strait up and started eating out of the normal dog food. hahaha
Tamara then called our Vet and asked if we could start feeding them normal dog food now and the vet said it would be fine .. soaked in warm water ... Tamara did that and the all turned into little piglets. smile
There so much Fun!

Beautiful angels Posted Thursday, March 13, 2003 by Tim
Since the arrival of the beautiful angels I have had the privilege of taking care of “the new mommy”. Every hour or two in the middle of the night I wake up to see how everyone is doing. I sit in amazement as I watch Greta care for her pups, she really took to being a mother instantly as if she has been doing this her whole life. Greta cleans the babies, she feeds them, she covers them when she feels they need her protection. When I handle a puppy she keeps a watchful eye on me as if to say, “what are you doing?” I think she trusts me, I hold the baby close to my heart, and I pet it gently with one finger, I’ll kiss them on their forehead and then give them right back to their mom.
Greta has really changed, she has put her own comfort and wants aside to make sure that her babies are comfortable and all being fed. I have fun holding a bowl of water up to her so that she can drink, and sometimes I will feed her from my hand. I have to make sure that Greta is taken care of, just like she makes sure her babies are taken care of! Dad Sport and I will come sit with Greta every so often, and Greta will smile at us because she knows she has 7 miraculous beautiful angels. Sport likes to look in on them and has an amazed look on his face. I really feel blessed to have such great dogs. I love you Sport and Greta, and I love the babies!

Sport & Gretta's Puppies Arrive !!! Posted Wednesday, March 12, 2003 by Tim
Well the litter arrived on Monday 03/10/2003. There were only thought to be 6 but a 7th one popped out!!! Very exciting
I finally got the WebCam up and running Monday morning [03/10/2203] and it was a good thing that I fixed it because I was watching it from my office Monday and saw that Gretta commenced having her puppy's! So I then rushed home quickly to be of assistance if she needed me. It was great timing on my behalf. I might be relocating the camera from being outside looking at the kennel to inside looking at Gretta and her puppy's now. Gretta is a GREAT MOM. Taking care of them like a seasoned Pro. This is her 1st litter.
We haven't wanted to bother them much these last 2 days so we have been picking them up a lot to see which are males and females. We will probably do that tonight.
We might have it for setup in the master bathroom, she seems to really like it there. If I get the camera relocated in their everyone will have a really great view of the puppies and Gretta!

Sport & Gretta play in the new short green stuff. Posted Sunday, March 9, 2003 by Tim
Today was the day to mow the front and back yard. Sport and Gretta always seem to love watching us thru the front glass door or thru the back sliding doors.
All they know is that every time Dad (or Mom) sits on the big loud thing and rides back & forth in the back yard (or front) the green stuff that they always run around and play in seems to be shorter and not so hard to run thru. Sport says "We like it when the green stuff is small cause its more fun to run around on and wrestle on!" Gretta says "Yeaaa ... I can see and grab the sticks Dad and Mom throws for us easy! .... plus its smells really good every time the green stuff gets shorter!"
So after mowing the yard and doing all that type domestic type stuff we all played in the backyard for about an hour. Sport was his usually goofy self ... Gretta didn't wrestle with him as much because she is so pregnant, it seems she knows better than to get to rambunctious .... we think she will have her puppies this week (weds 03/12/03 maybe).
Was a really nice day.
;o)

Two sweet angels Posted Friday, February 21, 2003 by Tamara
This evening after a hard week of work, my two sweet angels cuddled and snuggled with me. I was exhausted from a hectic week, but when I got home my two beautiful dogs made me feel like I didn't have a care in the world. We played tug of war for a little while, then watched a little TV then we all piled into bed for a nap! These doggies sure love their mommy!
Currently we are getting ready for Gretta Jayne Lovely to have puppies and we have been trying to get her used to her "whelping box" aka a plastic swimming pool, every night after work us girls will sit in it and watch tv together, lately Gretty (I like to call her that) goes into the pool on her own, I know she will be an excellent mommy!
Sport has been very loving as usual, he always wakes up and moves a little slower in the morning than Getty (another nick name) I will let Getty out for a while and sporty and I will have our own time to cuddle!!!!!! He really likes to be scratched behind his ears, what a lovey boy!
Both dogs are as enthusiastic and energetic as the day we brought them home three years or so ago... and I love them more and more each day! They will always be my little clowns! Mommy
Sunday, time for sleep and play Posted Monday, February 10, 2003 by Tim
Well, today was a great day for Sport & Gretta .... They started their day early in the morning with Mom. They like watch Mom exercise and then if Mom goes out for a walk they love to sit by the Glass front door and wait Patiently until she gets back. Then what they really like to its wait until Mom jumps into the shower and the little Devils in them come out. Usually it's Gretta that likes to quickly survey the area to see if Mom left any scraps of food out, maybe a breakfast plate that she can lick clean or maybe some scraps of breakfast food sitting on the top of the trash. Sport on the other hand likes to stay close to Mom when Gretta is doing something wrong, he'll sit there like a good boy at the front of the bathroom door as if to say "look Mom, a good boy I'm not doing anything wrong... You can't blame me!" Don't get me wrong, Sport will jump right on into being mischievous along with Gretta, however sometimes he's smart enough to stay away when Gretta is really bad.
Anyway, they only did a little bit of that this morning. After only being up for an hour or so it was time for a them to take their mid-morning nap. They pretty much laid around the house most the day sleeping in about a couple hundred different positions. Oh I forgot to say they snored their little bucks off too! They did run around and play outside in the backyard about three different times during the day. Later in the day it was time for their Sunday late afternoon wrestling match with Dad (me) in the master bedroom. As usual the first match was between Dad and Sport, a no holds barred match with lots of brave barking and growling by Sport. The match went on for about 25 minutes and was very ferocious sounding, at the end of the match we always end it with lots of human doggie handshakes in the form of hugs from Dad and kisses from Sport. The match must & always does, end with all competitors involved still being best friends. Through the whole match as usual Gretta is directly on the outside of the door with her nose down to the crack of the floor whimpering and crying because she is very sad that Dad is not playing with her. Soon as the door opens sport knows to exit and Gretta knows to enter.
Round two: Gretta vs. Dad (me). Today's match started off the same as it always does every Sunday where I grab a little white sock and roll it up and holding in my fists while laying down belly first on the floor trying not to let Gretta get it from me. Gretta is always the consummate athlete and a serious formidable opponent. Her leaping skills are surpassed by none! She can swoop in to grab the sock out of my hand with the skill and agility of a hawk grabbing a fish from water! Gretta's style is much different than sports and is not much into the roughhousing and brave barking like sport but is more into the playful game of just spending time trying to get the silly white sock out of dads hand! There is lots of barking however it is usually barking out of frustration on her part. It's always very funny to hear.
This was a nice family Sunday for everyone which ended with Mom (Tamara) ordering both dogs into the bed for some snuggling. 20 minutes later like ClockWork Sport decides he's had enough and jumps down to chill out on the floor at the foot of the bed for some extra space to himself.
Here endith Sunday.
Sport Sleeps / Gretta watches Posted Friday, February 7, 2003 by Tim
Today Sport slept for a couple hours on the sofa (upside down) and for some reason Gretta just sat next to him starring at his upside down face. It was really too funny. We think it's because she is so madly in Love with him.
Very cute.
